I done It!!!!!

I have finally done it. My NEW CAR is sitting in my driveway. All brand new and shiny with that new car smell. Mind you that won't last long (grin). I have already doubled the mileage on it (not difficult when it only has delivery mileage on it).

This is the first time I have ever bought a BRAND NEW car. Normally they have been a year old to get the price down etc. but this time I just went for it.

I will be getting a tow bar fitted on Saturday. That will be an early start (well for a Saturday). The car has to be there by 8.00am for them to complete the work by lunchtime when they close.

It was indeed the Kia Sorento XE that I was talking about earlier. The size and height of the thing is taking a bit of getting used to but I'm sure in a weeks time (or less) it will all seem perfectly normal.

So far I have stalled it twice and 'kangaroo hopped' it 2 or 3 times. Luckily I was on my own at the time to save my embarrassment.

It has an 80 litre tank so if I ever have to fill the tank from near empty it will cost me a fortune. My previous car (a Peugeot 406 HDi estate) has a 70 litre tank and that would last a couple of weeks before I would fill it back up. It will be interesting to see how I get on with this new car.

I Got It - At Last

I have finally signed up to get my new car. I have got the new Kia Sorento, Silver in colour and I even (although at the time I didn't know it) test drove the actual car I am buying.

The car I had driven in January was the previous years model. The one today is the one just releae by Kia, with the bigger BHP and a different chassis. It certainly did not drive like a 4X4 diesel. The engine had plenty of poke and plenty of room inside.

I have decided to pick the car up on the 1st March when the new 07 plates come out. OK I will have to wait a few weeks but I think it will be worth it.

Back to the Drawing Board

Well the bad news was confirmed. The contract for my new car is cancelled so I have to start looking again. Unfortunately now that we are another month on the deals that were available have now finished and the Kia Sorento is back to an expensive car to lease.

So it is back to try new quotes and see what deal I can get. It looks like it is going to cost me about another £70 a month, at least!!! I still want a Kia Sorento as my reasons for wanting it have not changed. Just the finances as to how I get it. Another thing is that my present car (Peugeot 406 Hdi Estate ) is another month older and another 1,000 miles on the clock which means that it's value is dropping too. Such is life. I will get there yet.

No Car

Yep, the title says it all. After signing up for the Kia Sorento from a leasing company it appears that Kia have changed the terms of the deal and the Leasing company have cancelled their contract with me. Sooooo No Motor. Back to the drawing board. I still want a Sorento, for the same reasons that I chose it in the first place, but I will just have to get it elsewhere.

Sigh !!!

New Motor

I have been very quite about my new motor. Basically because I haven't got it yet. The paperwork was sent out to me last week, but has never arrived (THANKS POST OFFICE). I have spoken with my suppliers and they are sending me a second set of documents to my Works address so hopefully they will arrive.

The good news is, if I can get the paperwork back to them then I should still have the vehicle before the month end (i.e. next week)!!!!!!

It's My Turn

Well, after much deliberation and a couple of visits to my local Kia garage, I have finally plumped to lease a Kia Sorento CRDi XE diesel. The paper work is in progress and, barring any issues with my credit status, I should have a new vehicle withing about 2 weeks. Yay!!!!!! Anybody want to buy a 6 year old Peugeot 406 HDi Estate Rapier (90BHP)?

The local garage couldn't match what the lease firms could and this way I don't have to find a substantial deposit and have a finance agreement for the next 5 years (again). I did my last car for 5 years and it really is a long time to keep a car. What with depreciation, running costs etc. The lease will be an interesting experiment. If I don't like it, I only have 2 years with the car, if I do like it then I can get a new one every 2 or 3 years.

I am not bothered whether I actually own the car, as long as I have access to one.

My wife is on my case though, as I HAVE to sell the old car quickly. When I bought it my previous car took ages to sell and she was doing her nut in with it parked in front of the house. Once I get a date for the new one I suppose I will need to start advertising it locally.
