Darn those Horses

Oh, the unpredictability of those horses when they are racing. You would think that when they are fourth in the last furlong they would have the decency to stay there instead of going and winning !!! (grin) OK I think you can guess what I am leading up to.

2 days on the trot (if you will pardon the pun) I suffered 2 winners that I had backed to loose. It wiped out all my profits and forced the Stop Loss trigger to kick in and prevent any further losses.

Then, yesterday, the opposite happened. Everything went to plan and the Stop Profit trigger kicked in when I have reached my maximum daily profit target. Why have one of them, well it can be very frustrating to build up a nice profit throughout the course of the day, to see it wiped out by a loosing bet right at the end. I set myself a maximum daily limit and said I would not be greedy as risk always involves a gamble and you can loose the lot.

If you remember I have had a couple of days where I have had to work had to recover from some losses. If you have made a reasonable profit, take the money and run.

InPlayMaster delivered yesterday and we are back in profit on my starting bank. Not by much so let us hope it can work it's magic today.

InPlayMaster

Wow, what a roller coaster ride this InPlayMaster is!! I had 20 bets today and lost 2 of them but it still managed to recover those losses and I ended up in a profit. OK not a lot but still a profit.

In the 1st week I have increased the betting back by over 50%, Yes I know it was a SMALL bank to start off with so a 50% increase is not that big, but hey, it's the principle of the thing!!

Let us hope the refinements I have made to the settings will produce a profit tomorrow. I have limited it so that if I reach £20 profit on the day it will stop. Now £20 is not a lot but if I can get near it consistently I will be a very happy bunny. In fact I will be a happy bunny just making a profit each day!!

I did think that InPlayMaster was going to let me down today but a late run on the last 3 races of the day took me from loss to a profit!! Let's hope I don't need that kind of recovery tomorrow.

Auto-BF/InPlayMaster

Well Auto-BF has blown it! A run of 6 loosing races caused the staking system to blow the bank away. That's it cleaned out. So bye-bye Auto-BF. It was doing well up to that point. A nice steady profit most days then it fell from grace. Sigh.

Ah well, on to other things. Auto-BF is history what is next?

Well I have come across a system called InPlayMaster. So far I have been running it a week and from a £50 betting bank I have increased it to approx £80. It would have been a LOT better today but for 4 losers out of 21 bets. I still made a profit, just not as much as I would have liked.

It is a bot system where you set up some rules and during the running of the race, if the selection criteria are met then then it will place either a back or a lay bet, dependent upon which way you choose. The trick is selecting the rules. You would not believe just how many races there are in the UK each day. They must be about every 10 mins during the week and last weekend it was nearer every 5 minutes.

The manual gives you some suggestions but it is really up to you to 'refine' your own rules. It has a 'paper' trading option where it will run your rules on a live race but not place any actual bets so you can see how your rules are doing and tweak them accordingly. I don't know if I have been lucky but I have had some days with no losses and others like today with 4. Some days I made a profit and some I did not. It's like all gambling you have to take the losses with the wins.

You don't have to be sitting there watching it. Once you have set up your rules, add the races you want to follow and leave it to do the rest. I set it up in the morning and leave it running the rest of the day (up till 9.00pm at the moment as that is roughly when the last race is).

It only works with UK & Ireland racing where Betfair provides in race betting. I'll let you know how it is doing later.

Lost Again

I really don't know if I should be trying this Horse Betting Lark. Today I had a choice of 3 horses in 3 different races. I chose one of them as I only make 1 bet a day. Well 2 won and one lost. It does not take a genius to guess which one I chose!!!! I am definitely not making anything at this lark. Mind you, I am not exactly spending a lot either. One of these days I will stumble across a more consistent way of doing things (Grin).

No I'm Not

Sigh!! Just when you thought you were getting a handle on this thing it goes and proves you wrong. I suppose that is the fun with gambling. Nothing is guaranteed and even the so called 'experts' get it wrong. Still, persevere, they say and you should come out on top. Eventually, maybe!!!!! Don't hold your breath.

Getting the Hang of It

Well, this horse racing lay betting is not going to earn me a fortune at the size of bets I place (£2) but it is slowly increasing. Thanks to the lay site on the left (for an explanation of it all you will have to go to the very first pages on the blog) and some lucky selections I am ahead of the game. I don't do all the horses he suggests, in fact I only did 3 on Saturday but they all lost and I made my stake back (less commission). So if I lay £2 and the horse loses then I get £2 added to my account. I know it is small fry but I do not want to get to the point where it is big money that I cannot afford to loose. Always only bet what you can afford to loose is what I keep reading, and it is sound advice.

He also has a backing blog. I may look at that as well. The risks are greater, but so are the rewards. The trouble is there is no guarantee with any of this. All the sites I have seen appear to have loosing streaks at some stage, be it 2 or 3 races you can still loose all your previous profit.

It's your choice and your money. The above implies no guarantees and is only indicative of how I am doing.

Tough Horses

You would not think it would be so difficult to pick a horse that will LOOSE would you? After all only one of them can win so the rest are losers. I suppose it comes down to what kind of risk you want to take. With lay betting you are betting against those who think the horse will win and if you select a very long shot and it wins it will cost you a FORTUNE. It is a balancing act that I haven't quite got the hang of yet. The blog on the left about lay betting is very good but it is covering about half a dozen different schemes. It was making little sense to me so I emailed the guy that runs it. He pointed me to the first couple of blogs which explain what it is he is doing and what the numbers all mean.

Nice guy Clive. I like his style. His selected horses don't always loose which is why you have to run a betting bank that will take losses into account. Have a look at his blogs and sign up for his free newsletter. It makes interesting reading. (No I am no affiliate but I might look into that aspect of it (grin)).
